The Admin Administrator is Test Generator's default, tier1 Administrator and cannot be deleted. This user is at the top of the TG permissions pyramid, having access to all the features and capabilities of the program. Other, tier2 Administrators, have equal access to the program with one exception: they cannot see or modify the user information of other Administrators - only the tier1 Admin Administrator can do this.
If your setup of TG involves only one Administrator, you may want to use only the Admin Administrator. Even if multiple users need to create and edit Tests, you may still want to use only one Administrator, in conjunction with multiple Instructors. In general, this is the preferable approach. The single Administrator can reside over top-level TG functions, such as creating classes, monitoring the Test Generator Question Bank, and setting permissions for other users, while multiple Instructors can deal with the day-to-day work involving tests. However, if using TG on a large network you may need to use multiple Administrators.
Note: All Administrators and Instructors access the same Test Generator database, so any one Administrator has access to the same information as any other Administrator. An Administrator can control what information an Instructor has access to, by changing the instructor's Permissions.
The UserID and Password for the tier1 Admin Administrator are displayed during installation. The Admin password should be considered temporary. We recommend changing the Admin password before you start creating tests. Once you change the password, save this information in a secure place.
Note: If you forget the password, you won't be able to log in.
If you are sharing the Admin role with a colleague, make sure both individuals know the Admin password.
To change the Password for the Admin Administrator (or any user):
Select Users > Administrators > Admin, Admin in the Tree Directory.
Click the Login tab on the right side of the window to open the Login dialog. The User ID field cannot be modified, but you can type a new Password, then retype the Password.
Note: TG Web Admins have the added responsibility of keeping track of the database parameters allowing them to connect to their database.
