Set test retaking options in the Retakes section of the Test Properties General tab (Test Settings > Test Properties > General tab) in the Test Editing window.
No Retakes: The default setting for a test. Test takers are only allowed to take the test one time.
Unlimited Retakes: A test taker can take the test as many times as he/she wants while the test is active.
Limited
Retakes: A maximum number of takes must be entered in the small
box next to the Limited Retakes radio button. A test taker can take
the test that many times while the test is activated (e.g.,
a value of 2 here means the test taker can take the test 2 times).
For Unlimited Retakes or Limited Retakes, set the following options:
Record score and answers of every take
Time
limits and Retakes
Note: Beware of test time limit settings while using retakes.
Currently, if retakes are allowed and the Record score and answers
of every take option are checked (see below), the test time limit
is reset between each take. If the Record score and answers of every
take option are not checked, the time limit is cumulative across retakes.
For example, if the test time limit is set to 10 minutes and the retake
settings are 2 Limited Retakes with the Record score and answers of
every take option checked, the test taker has 10 minutes for his/her
first time and 10 minutes again for his/her second time.
If the test settings are the same, but the Record score and answers
of every take option is not checked, the test taker 10 minutes for
his/her first take, and 10 minutes minus the time spent during the
first take for his/her second take.
Note: This is legacy behavior under review.
