One of the great advantages of Test Generator is automatic calculation and compilation of test scores. However, due to the nature of the question type, administrative-level users must score Essay questions manually.
To Print or Score an Essay Question
Select the test containing the essay question(s) in the Tree Directory on the left side of the main Test Generator window.
Click the Scores tab on the right side of the window.
Click the Score Essay button under the white test taker scores window to open the Essay Score Summary window.
The Essay Score Toolbar is at the top of the Essay Score Summary window. Below is the summary list of every test taker's response to each essay question in the test. Double-click any test taker's response in the list to see the text of their essay in the Essay Score window.
The main white field of the Essay Score window contains the text of the test taker's essay. Click anywhere in the text to insert your comments. These comments appear highlighted in blue and surrounded by brackets to differentiate them from the text of the essay.
On the right side of the Essay Score window is an Instructor Comments field. Use this area for your own reference; comments entered here are not printed with the essay and therefore are never seen by the Test taker.
The Points field in the upper right of the Essay Score window represents the total point value the test creator assigned to the essay question. The Score field represents the essay score awarded to the test taker.
After typing comments and giving an essay score, click the Save button on the Essay Score Toolbar to save your work, and then press the Summary List button on the Essay Score Toolbar to return to the Essay Score Summary window.
Print the Essay by clicking the Print button in the toolbar of the Essay Score Summary window or the Essay Score window. This prints the Essay Question Text and the response for the selected test taker.
Note: This also prints any comments you have typed in the text of the Essay response, but does not include any Instructor Comments typed on the right side of the Essay Score window.
After scoring all the essay questions, press the Back to Main Menu button on the Essay Score Toolbar to return to the Test Generator Main window.
