Test Schedule Settings

In addition to the enrollment settings, test authors can define deadline and frequency eligibility parameters as well as email notifications based on these parameters. These options are found under the Test Settings > Scheduling tab.

Eligibility Policies

Your test must be active in order for these settings to apply.
Apply to, and are set for, individual tests.
Can be enabled and disabled.
Apply to anyone enrolled at a test level; they are global.
Vary based on the test taker’s eligibility date.
Are optional and not required for test activation.
Deadline, Frequency and Notifications are separate settings: all can be enabled.
Deadline and Frequency settings can each have a related notification setting.
Deadline and Frequency parameters are specified in days or months.
A test must be activated in order for these settings to apply.
Email notifications are optional.
Email notifications can be sent out before or after deadline, frequency, or both.

Deadline Settings

This optional setting allows the test admin to select a specified number of days or months a test will remain active for any enrollee. For example, enrollees can take the test up to 30 days following their eligibility date, the day/time they were enrolled in the test, regardless of whether that date is tomorrow or several months/years from now.

Best Practice

We recommend establishing a policy regarding the grace period within which a test can be taken. Arbitrarily changing the deadline period can lead to some confusion on the part of your test takers. If you do change the date, you may also want to check any notification emails to make sure your message is consistent with the revised deadline policy.

Deadline Policies

A test must be activated in order for Deadline settings to apply.
Deadlines are set at a test level.
Setting a deadline is not a requirement for test activation.
Deadlines can be enabled or disabled.
Specifying a deadline is global: it applies to everyone enrolled in a test.
Deadlines vary based on a test taker’s eligibility: the date specified in their enrollment.

Note: Activating a deadline does not also require the activation of a Frequency setting; however, both can be enabled.
Since test takers can be enrolled at various date/times, deadline settings will vary based the test taker’s eligibility date.
Deadline email notification is an optional setting.
Email notifications can be sent out before or after the deadline. You can construct one or the other, or both.

Frequency Settings

Frequency is a specific period of time (days or months) after which a test taker can test again.

There are various scenarios under which this setting applies. Note: It is always associated with some set of eligibility conditions.
