Using Media

Embedding Objects in Q and A Text

Uses

Location

The Media module is located in TG's main menu (Home) window, under the Tree Directory.

Concept

The Media module is a repository for everything from .jpg" to .txt files. These files can be imported and stored in folders organized under the Media module. You can organize your media in one or multiple media folders by file type, subject or whatever category suits your requirements.

Imported media can be used with any of TG’s question types. This makes it possible to use the same media file with different questions in the same test or with various questions in multiple tests located in the same, or different, courses.

File Types

Test Generator currently supports the following media types:

You can add media to any of the 11 question types (currently) found in TG. The Point and Click question-type uses the media graphic as the answer.

TG Desktop and TG LAN

TG Desktop writes and reads data in a run-time copy of Microsoft Access. TG LAN can run under MS Access or several SQL databases. We use various factors to determine which database to use, usually defined at the time of purchase. Typically, small networks with fewer than 20 concurrent users use MS Access. Larger networks (> 20 concurrent users) use a SQL database.

If you are using TG Desktop, or TG LAN (with MS Access) we do not recommend embedding media in the question and answer fields. MS Access does not process, or display, embedded media effectively. This affects performance.

Best Practice for TG Desktop and TG LAN

TG Web

TG Web supports various Sql databases. Sql databases are enterprise-level systems designed to support many users and large amounts of data. The following conditions apply:
