Test Settings > New Question

Point and Click questions contain a picture or some other form of Media with one or more areas designated by you, the Test Creator. The test taker, when answering a Point and Click question, cannot see the area(s) you designated. The test taker must select a point on the picture. Credit is awarded if the test taker selects a point within the designated area(s).

  1. Click the blue +Q, Question button or select Test Settings > New Question. A list of the 11 question types appears.

  2. Select Point and Click. The yellow box at the center of the window displays the Point and Click question-type.

  3. Enter your question text in the yellow box at the top of the window. Delete, or type over, the introductory text. Type your question as you want it to appear on the test.

  4. You must include an image as your answer. Click the Edit Media icon (new_media.gif) on the toolbar to open the Media dialog.

  5. Click the Choose a Media file icon in the upper left of the Media dialog (it's the same as the Edit Media icon) to open a screen allowing you to navigate to the directory containing the media file you wish to use.

  6. Navigate to the directory containing the image and select it. The right side of the dialog displays the image.

  7. The bottom of the dialog contains behavior options. Check if you want the image to display automatically and enter the number of seconds.

  8. Click Use Media to attach the image to the question and return to the original Media dialog.

Note: when you close the Media dialog, you will not see the image in the Test Editing Summary window.

  9. If necessary for the question, click the Add an Ellipse or Add a Rectangle icon on the top of the Media dialog box. The corresponding shape appears on the image.

  10. Click the shape to select it (squares appear at the shape's boundary). To manipulate the size of the shape, drag the squares. To position the shape on the image, drag the entire shape. To remove a shape, click it and press the Delete selected area button at the top of the Media dialog box.

In this exercise we assume you have not yet imported any media. If you like, you can use the Heart or QRS media samples included in your TG installation. You can create your question first and then select the media or vice versa, the choice is yours. In this example we create the question first.

Uses: Presentation of an answer in the form of a graphic. The test taker must evaluate the graphic and, based on the question, click it to select the answer.
