Importing and exporting tests

When you create a test, you are required to create that test in a specific class. However, tests can be shared between two or more classes, allowing Test Takers in multiple classes to take the same test. Tests can also be shared between Test Generators on different computers, in different locations.

Note: It is generally preferable to have a duplicate of a test in more than one class, as opposed to sharing the test between classes. Remember, if the test is shared, any changes made to the test are reflected in every class in which it is shared. Also, scores across all classes are associated with the same test, so rescoring or deleting the test affects all classes.

Duplicating Tests

To duplicate a test, simply edit the test, then choose File > Save As from the menu, and enter your new class and/or new test name.

Sharing Tests between Classes

To share a test between classes:

  1. Highlight the test under the class in which it was originally created in the Tree Directory.

  2. Click the Sharing tab in the right side of the window.

Opens the Sharing folder, which contains two boxes. The right box shows a list of the classes the test is shared between. The left box shows a list of all classes in the Test Generator.

  3. To associate the test with a class, select the class in the left box and click the Add>> button.

The class shows up in the right box.

  4. To disassociate a class with the test, select the class in the right box and click the <<Remove button.

The class disappears from the right box.

Sharing Tests between Test Generators

Tests can be exported from one Test Generator and imported into another Test Generator.
