Before reviewing this topic and using this feature we assume:
You have already had some experience creating, editing, activating and taking a test.
You have reviewed Test Generator Question Bank.
You have reviewed Working with Subjects.
This topic deals with:
Exporting questions from an existing test back into a question bank.
Importing questions from one or more question banks back into a test.
Prior to TG 2.4.9, test authors had to:
Create a question bank (subject), then
Create a test and associate questions with subjects and then, assuming the test author wanted to warehouse the questions,
Export those questions from a test into their respective banks.
Beginning with TG 2.4.9 administrative-level users can now:
Create and save questions directly in a question bank.
Import questions from one question bank to another.
Edit, update, delete and add questions directly in a question bank.
Use the Test Wizard to quickly create a test based on a subset of questions chosen from one or more question banks.
These new features greatly expand a test authors options and flexibility in creating and managing question banks.
For a tutorial on importing questions into Question Banks and tests, see http://testshop.com/importing-tests/.
Export questions from a test into a question bank
Import questions into a test from the Question Bank
Questions (items) imported from a Question Bank into a test contain the original question parameters assigned when the item was created.
Evaluate the item before importing it into a test. If the imported item does not quite match your requirements, you can modify it in the test. The modified item can then be exported into the same bank or assigned a different subject (bank name) and re-imported. We don’t recommend this practice because you don’t have any test data to determine whether or not the new item is good.
Questions modified in a test do not automatically update the original item in the Question Bank.
If the original Question Bank item is updated/edited in the Question Bank, it does not automatically update the copy of the question in a test.
Re-importing a test question into the Question Bank does not automatically overwrite the original Question Bank question .it is possible to have duplicate items.
Partial/incomplete questions can be written and stored in a Question Bank and these incomplete items can be imported into a test.
Establish policies regarding the updating/editing of Question Bank items.
