Subjects are the organizational structure of question banks. Questions are subordinate to subjects just as they are to tests. A question must first be created in a test then assigned to a subject for randomization within the test or for export to the Test Generator Question Bank.
Note: Assigning a question to a subject and exporting a question to the Test Generator Question Bank are two different procedures.
Once a question is created in the Test Editing window, it can be assigned to a subject.
After creating the question, click the Subject button (or select Question Settings > Edit Subject).
A window opens listing all available subjects (all subjects currently in the Test Generator Question Bank).
Select the appropriate subject.
Click OK.
To add a new subject for your question (under the Subject root directory), click the Subject button on the left side of the window.
To add a new sub-subject:
Highlight a subject in the list.
Click the Sub-Subject button.
Select your new subject or sub-subject and click OK. (Note that a new subject or sub-subject is added into the Test Generator Question Bank.)
To assign the question no subject or to clear the subject, click the No Subject button in the window.
The subject the question has been assigned to appears in the TG Toolbar, when the Subject tab of that toolbar is selected.
Assigning your questions to subjects will enable certain options regarding the individual Test Question Bank.
Assigning a question to a subject does not mean that the question is stored in the Test Generator Question Bank. The question must be exported to the Test Generator Question Bank.
Select the question from the summary list. You can select multiple questions.
Select File > Export > to Question Bank.
A warning dialog tells you only the selected question(s) will be exported.
Click OK. A dialog confirms the successful exportation.
