Test Settings > New Question

Essay questions are the only questions in Test Generator, which allow the test taker to enter a lengthy response.

1. Click the blue +Q, Question button, or select Test Settings > New Question. A list of the 11 question types appears.

2. Select Essay. The Essay question-type appears in the yellow box at the top of the window.

3. Enter your question text in the yellow box at the top of the window. Delete, or type over, the introductory text. Type your question as you want it to appear on the test. Make sure to include any Word Limit for your Test Takers in the text of your question.

The test taker, when taking the test, sees the question text and is provided with a space for typing the essay.

Note: Essay questions are the only question type that must be scored manually.

Uses: a) traditional essay or b) objective answer (text, number, both) followed by a description of how the test taker arrived at the answer.
