TG Environment Terms

If using the Test Generator in an environment where the terms 'Classes', 'Test Takers', and 'Instructors' are inappropriate, you can change the naming conventions for these terms. For example, if your organization is a baseball team, you might change these terms to 'Training Sessions', 'Players', and 'Coaches', respectively. Select System Settings > Designations tab in the Tree Directory on the main TG window to change these conventions.

Mathematical Equations

You can use mathematical equations in your test. Equations built in Microsoft Word's equation editor can be dragged and dropped directly into question or answer text. In addition, any equation converted to an image can be imported into Test Generator or dragged and dropped directly into question or answer text. (As with any image, the drag and drop technique should be used judiciously with Test Generator as each instance of an image embedded in question or answer text must be stored separately in the database.)

Using a test in more than one class

You can make a test accessible to more than one class. In general, the best way to do this is to copy the test to another class. Simply edit the test and use File > Save As in the Test Editing window to save the test to your new class. However, if you are an Administrator or Instructor for several classes and have a particular test you want to use in more than one of those classes, test sharing may be applicable. Highlight your test in the Tree Directory on the left side of the Main TG window, then click the Sharing tab on the right. Remember, any changes made to a shared test are reflected in every class in which that test is shared!

Printing a hard copy of a test

A hard copy may be useful for archival purposes or as a test key to be posted. You can print a test in the Test Editing window, or by printing a Test Key Report. Many options are available such as showing the test key, showing the question references, and printing multiple copies.

Matching Questions

You can create Matching questions with Test Generator. TG's Ordering question type can easily be modified to create Matching questions: in the question text of your Ordering question, make a column containing one of the matching sets and corresponding numerical values:

Put the other matching set into the text of your answers:

Then assign a correct numerical value to each answer:

During the test, the Test Takers will have to assign a number to each answer just as you have. Enable the Partial Credit option for this question if you'd like.
